5. Broad City

This show was created by two funny females who also star in it as the main characters: Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer. Their chemistry is amazing as they play BFFs who are probably way too close, but they will make you love them and wish you had a super crazy BFF relationship just like them. They are young adults running around New York City, getting into adventures where they figure out life and how to adult (adulting being hard and hilarious). This is the super relevant, socially conscious, female empowering media we need, especially when it’s about a friendship between two female characters that does not include toxic views of femininity where girls cannot play nice together. Plus, Broad City is produced by the talented and well-known Amy Poehler, so more female power (yaaas queen)! The supporting cast is also super great, funny, and so perfectly quirky. I believe this to be the show of my generation, with so many young people relating, trying to figure out their lives while still having fun. This show questions traditional roles and values, showing it’s okay to be you and let your freak flag fly. Catch Season 4 out in August 2017 on Comedy Central!
