Women definitely know something about horror.
Halloween is almost here, and with it, horror-themed film festivals. The horror genre has mostly been dominated by male filmmakers, but in recent years more attention and respect has been focused on women filmmakers in the genre.
One in particular, The Bloody Mary Film Festival, is in its third year showcasing Canadian women in horror, fantasy, and sci-fi. The festival is a two-night event running November 8th through the 9th at the Carlton Theater in Toronto. The festival includes short films as well as features from female-identifying filmmakers from all over Canada. It’s a must-go-to event for any horror fan. The films range from disturbing and terrifying to delightfully devilish.
