Oscar-nominated director David O. Russell (The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) is at the helm of Prada’s short film “Past Forward.” That’s an apt title, because the film is what I’d call an experimental juxtaposition. It’s sleek, ultra-modern, and it conveys futuristic technology, but the clever twist is that it’s presented like an old-fashion black & white silent film. The narrative concept is unique too, as three different actresses (Allison Williams, Freida Pinto, and Kuoth Wiel) portray the same character. It’s interesting to see how it all unfolds. Things get really weird, and the result is actually quite beautiful.
