BREAKING NEWS: 2DFS is now the The Bay Area Film Grant

We spent a few days in the Bay Area meeting all of you, the local filmmakers who make up the Bay's strong, growing film community. You spoke and we listened. You told us about what you wanted and needed to help you grow, so we’ve decided to reallocate the 2DFS funds and give them to you.

Our founding principles are to help filmmakers 1) see their projects realized and 2) find paid work.  Many indie filmmakers face an impossible Catch 22: paid work requires paid experience and paid experience requires paid work. In the Bay, we heard the same complaint over and over again: People are tired of working for free.

Originally, 2DFS was conceived as a fun way to spend some time together and introduce you to how Colaborator works for you.  We still want to do that, but in a way that at least helps address the problem of “free work” — to reiterate The Bay Area Filmmaker Film Grant will be real money given to Bay Area filmmakers to get their projects made.  Instead of introducing you to Colaborator by asking you to work for free, we will contribute funds to help get your projects made and along the way introduce you to Colaborator and to each other.
