"Colaborator gave us the platform to advertise our project to filmmakers quickly and efficiently."

On Thursday October 18th, "Plural of Blood" will be among other shorts being screened as part of DTLAFF's Short Films Program. The story centers on Diana Santiago, an African American police wife, whose life changes forever when her husband, LAPD officer Alejandro Santiago, is involved in the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black teenager.

Monica Lawson of Bond Motion Pictures portrays Diana, as well as executive produces the film. Her production company used Colaborator to search worldwide for the perfect script to tackle. She found it in writer/director Sylvester K. Folks. Through this story, the production was able to continue the discussion of unarmed African Americans being shot by policemen. The story, however, tackles the complexities of each side of the story, giving no easy answers.

"Our film, THE PLURAL OF BLOOD, the title which reflects the plurality of loss on either side of the THIN BLUE LINE, has had the great fortune to run in festivals worldwide and in the wake of positive audience reception, Bond’s goals are to use PLURAL as a proof of concept into being further developed as a feature or television series."

The film is directed by Mary-lyn Chambers, an award-winning filmmaker born in Fiji, and raised in New Zealand.
