A24 is an independent entertainment company that has been involved with many recent Academy Award films, and now they'll be working with Apple to produce more feature length content.

On November 15, Apple announced that it will be working together with Studio A24 to create a feature film series. A24 is an independent entertainment company in New York that has been involved with many recent Academy Award films like “Moonlight,” “Lady Bird,” “Ex Machina,” and “Hereditary.” This is a multiyear agreement with A24 producing multiple films for Apple.

Both sides will see benefits from this deal. A24 is a promising partner for Apple, as its top grossing movie made $49 million in the USA alone. Apple will be able to diversify its audience from the family audience it has been attracting. Apple’s current largest deals are with Stephen Spielberg, Oprah, and Jennifer Anniston. Partnering with A24 will allow Apple to attract prospective filmmakers, through the promise of talent and Oscar possibilities. A24 will benefit from big scale marketing and financial support from Apple.

There is some foreseeable tension to the deal as Apple is known for close oversight and pressure on financial issues, while A24 has flourished on independence. But overall, there seem to be many benefits to this partnership between Apple and Studio A24 and we should be able to expect some great films to come out of it.
